For such a small country, Ecuador packs a punch – from the humid jungle of the Amazonian rainforest to the snow clad peaks of its volcanoes – there are not many countries quite so distinct and alluring. Yet underneath the beauty of the countryside, Ecuador is still a third world country where dogs, cats and other animals are not only ignored and neglected, but the victims of some of the worst cases of animal cruelty, not to mention troubling government sponsored extermination.
Stray from the Heart has joined up with "Amigo Fiel" in Ecuador. An organization fighting for the lives of theses neglected and unwanted to bring these animals from a place where they have only the slimmest chance of survival, much less a happy and healthy life to the US and adoptable loving homes. Some people may ask, "Why worry about these dogs when there are so many in the US who are abandoned and homeless"? We say, all dogs deserve to be happy, healthy and loved. It doesn't matter what contry they were acidentally 'born' into, what matters is that without this chance, they will surely live a miserable, short life and most likely a painful and sad death. No dog... no animal or person deserves that. Not when we can help so easily!
